Technology Trends in 2012 and Beyond
20 Dec 2011 Geoff Redman
Part way through 2011 a survey by Forrester Group on Global Emerging Technology trends looked at the top 10 technology trends for 2012 to 2014. The survey looked at what would provide the most value over five years and which technologies would change the most over three years.
The pleasing aspect from our point of view that the top three technologies are covered by solutions we are already promoting. The top three are Business Intelligence, Mobile apps and Business Process Management & Automation (workflow).

BI topped both value and change, however BPM is predicted to provide much more value than change, indicating a high ROI is expected.
We have seen an increase in interest in the BPM space and have implemented some new sites with our BizFlow product. We see this trend continuing as organisations look to optimise their processes, increase productivity, model their business processes, support compliance and also standardise processes across divisions and regions.
The other technologies covered in the survey were Application platforms, IT strategy, planning and governance, Application integration, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Master Data Management and Data Governance, Collaboration and social (internal). Data centre technologies, Service-oriented architecture, Collaboration and social (external), Business events and rules and Information Integration.
