New Zealand councils are moving towards more consistent reporting, making performance and value for money easier to compare. As teams prepare their next Long-Term Plans, we explore the opportunity to connect plans, actions and progress, and spend less time pulling reports together.

As part of our Becoming a Local Government Data Storyteller session at this year's IPR Conference, we ran an activity called The Great Council Reporting Makeover. Eight tables of IP&R professionals were given the same quarterly performance report and asked to look at it through different audience lenses.
