Employee Spotlight - Alinda van der Harst

Alinda van der Harst has a passion for community and local government, and after implementing Resolve at Noosa Council, we’re thrilled to have her join the Implementation Team at Redman Solutions. We get to know Alinda a little more – from how she began her career to her exciting future travel plans.

Tell us a bit about your background and where you're from.

I'm a mum of three adult sons, aged 20, 22, and 26. I've lived on the Sunshine Coast for about 28 years. Before that, I spent four years in the Netherlands and was raised in South Australia. The warmer climate definitely drew me to the Sunshine Coast.

You’ve spent most of your career in the public sector; how did all that begin?

I began my career as a travel consultant, and while I was volunteering at a football club (soccer), I was asked to come work at Sunshine Coast Council, which led to a Sports and Recreation Support Officer role. I assisted with grants, governance, and projects for a large group of sporting clubs across the Sunshine Coast.

After that, I spent nine years at Noosa Council, working in Strategic Planning and then in the Executive office, supporting the CEO, Mayor and Councillors. In 2023, I was part of the team that implemented Resolve, giving me first-hand experience of the solution and its significant impact.

What inspired you to join Team Redman?

I had first-hand experience transitioning from a word-based agenda system to Resolve, and I saw how transformative it was for our council and its positive impact on everyone. I loved the training we received and the team from Redman, and I also enjoyed demonstrating the system's functionality. The feedback from the community was fantastic, and I knew I wanted to be part of that change. Joining the team allows me to help Report Writers, EAs, and Governance teams make a real difference.

You’ve worked for, and now with local government, what do you enjoy about the sector?

The opportunity to give back to the community. My volunteering experience showed me how I could assist other clubs with governance and grants, inspiring me to get more involved. Working with councils allows me to explore different initiatives and make a meaningful impact.

What’s your favourite food and travel destination?

I love travelling anywhere in Europe, especially after living in the Netherlands for four years—I enjoy the hustle and bustle of European cities. I’m heading to Antarctica in December, so I'm really looking forward to that. As for food, I have a Dutch-Indonesian background, so I'm a big fan of all types of Asian cuisine.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I don’t have much spare time, but I was the Noosa Lions Football Club president for six years, so I’m pretty involved in football. I also enjoy watching the game and mountain biking, though I don’t get out as much as I’d like. The Sunshine Coast is perfect for outdoor activities like that, and I love it.
