Employee Spotlight - Kaitlin Altana

From growing up in a busy household of five kids to supporting councils across Australia, Implementation Consultant, Kaitlin brings empathy, energy and a genuine love for people. With a background in customer-focused roles and a passion for helping others, we get to know her a little more.

Tell us a bit about you and your family

I was born in Ipswich and grew up moving around with my family while my dad worked as a police officer. We lived in a few remote communities and spent time in the Whitsundays.

I have four siblings, so life was always busy and loud, and I come from Spanish and Italian heritage.

What do you enjoy about working in this sector?

I started my career working in hospitality and call centres, and discovered how much I enjoy working with people. I'm quite empathetic and love how customer-focused my role is. Being able to really listen to our clients and de-escalate and solve issues is something I find really rewarding.

There’s always so much happening behind the scenes with our clients. It’s impressive to see the many moving parts involved in delivering a council meeting, and the collaboration across teams to make it happen.

What inspired you to join Team Redman?

Joining Redman Solutions was my first step into the local government space. Learning about the variety of councils, the opportunity to travel, and the chance to work closely with clients across Australia made it an easy decision.

Upon meeting the team, I was immediately impressed by everyone's passion. Our team really lives our corporate values, and that's nice to be part of.

What gets you up and excited each morning?

Every day is different. From the conversations I have to the work I'm doing, I look forward to helping people feel heard and supported, especially when things feel overwhelming. I also love travelling onsite to different locations - there are so many fascinating places around Australia, and I'm fortunate that I get to spend time there.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Outside of work, I’m currently doing a nail course, which I’ve been really enjoying. I also like to unwind by playing video games.

Your favourite food/holiday destination?

I'm a bit of a foodie, especially when it comes to savoury. I can't go past a good lasagna. I also think Airlie Beach is one of the best locations to holiday in.
